An extraordinary journey...This is your chance to experience amazing Himalayan mountain views and Nepali culture while on a moderate trek under 14,000’ in the Everest (Khumbu) region of colorful Nepal. Weather permitting, we’ll have views of Mount Everest and Mount Ama Dablam. We'll be there in late spring in Nepal, and we hope to catch the rhododendrons blooming along the trail. We’ll start and end our trip in Kathmandu, where you’ll enjoy a cultural tour to Buddhist and Hindu holy sites, and visit the vibrant Thamel neighborhood near our hotel. The short but scenic, and rightfully famous, flight from Kathmandu to Lukla’s high altitude mountain edge air strip starts and ends our trek. Along our trek in the Everest region, we’ll visit Buddhist monasteries and nunneries, meet friendly and welcoming local people, while surrounded by amazing Himalayan scenery. We will cross suspension bridges including the famous one from the recent Everest movie. We’ll learn how to share the trail and bridges safely with yaks and yak hybrid pack animals. Our hiking days will be moderate, designed not to be too long so that most days we have time to relax or explore in the local villages where we overnight. Our trek is supported by porters or yaks/yak hybrids who carry our luggage as we hike between simple lodges and guest houses. It’s ideal for those who enjoy getting to know local people and cultures, explore local villages. Best for those looking for a fantastic Nepal trek, focused on the total experience rather than a specific end point. Erika Bloom will be part of our trek group, and this will be her third time hiking along these trails. She's happy to be sharing her exeripences and familiarity. Andrea DeVeau will be adding in a little yoga, sound healing, and meditation where possible along the route. Bringing an extra element of awareness, and soul conscious travel.
"What conditions should I expect?" Expect 3-7 hours of hiking a day, expect minimalist “lodges” which can almost be described as camping indoors, expect shared bathrooms during the trek (with private bathrooms in some trek lodges and in Kathmandu), expect food that would seem similar to Indian and Chinese food and will be a limited menu and similar selections throughout the trek, expect less-developed nation conditions. Expect to go to a travel clinic for advice about recommended vaccines and medications for this trip. Expect that you will likely feel out of breath/easily fatigued at our highest altitudes. Expect that where, when and how Andrea is able to offer yoga, meditation, sound healing may be in less than perfect conditions or unexpected places and times. Also expect amazing mountain scenery, lovely local people, and cultural immersion in Hindu (Kathmandu area) and Buddhist (Kathmandu and Everest area) religions and traditions. The people and culture in Nepal are so vibrant and wonderful. Add in a trek in the Himalayas with fantastic views, and add yoga and sound healing with Andrea - we’re some lucky people!
